The Social Entrepreneur Award goes to…
November 2nd, 2009
The organizers of the 2009 Corporate and Community Social Responsibility Conference have selected Frank O’Dea to be this year’s recipient of the Social Entrepreneur Award.
Frank O’Dea is best known as the homeless street-person who went on the co-found the Second Cup chain of coffee stores and a number of other national and international enterprises. Among his very extensive, but lesser known accomplishments, he was involved as one of the founders of not-for-profit organizations such as Street Kids International, War Child(Canada), Canadian Landmine Foundation and the Night-of-a-1000-Dinners. He is currently the Chair of the Royal Roads University Foundation.
This is not the first such public recognition for Frank for his contributions to society. He has received the Ontario Volunteer Award, Honorary degrees from two Canadian Universities and the Order of Canada.
The award will be presented at the conference dinner in Ottawa on November 23, 2009.
